This year’s Nexus Summit 2022 celebrated the National Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education’s decade of growth in the field of collaborative health.

��������ϲ����� has had a close alliance with the national center since its 2012 inception and was a proud sponsor and supplier of presenters at this year’s conference, “Learning Together in the Nexus: A Focus on What Matters Most.”

The summit returned to its pre-pandemic in-person format in Minneapolis followed by a two-day virtual conference.

Elise Parker, a graduate assistant in the Center for Excellence in Collaborative Education (CECE) and second-year student in ��������ϲ�����’s Master of Science in Occupational Therapy (M.S.O.T.) program, presented a poster at the in-person session on the collaborative work performed by the Cumberland County Jail, CECE, and and the WCHP Office of Service Learning to promote harm reduction. The poster, “Partnerships in Harm Reduction: Campus to Community Engagement to Benefit Incarcerated Individuals Upon Release,” co-authored by Trisha Mason, M.A., Westbrook College of Health Professions (WCHP) director of Service Learning, and Kris Hall, M.F.A., program manager of CECE, received considerable attention from universities hoping to emulate the model.

A lightning talk, “Occupational Therapy Students’ Application of Interprofessional Education Core Competency Domains During Simulation,” by Elizabeth Crampsey, Ed.D., OTR/L, BCPR, associate clinical professor of occupational therapy, highlighted the application of interprofessional core competencies to OT practice.

Shelley Cohen Konrad, Ph.D., LCSW, FNAP, director of the Center for Excellence in Collaborative Education, facilitated a national panel to discuss the topic of resilience. “Resilience Revisited: Moving the Focus from Individuals to Systems” focused on the need to integrate resilience and wellness practices across institutions and programs.

Altogether, the Nexus Summit continued its history of bringing forth critical topics to advance quality health care practice and education and to promote innovation that achieves meaningful outcomes for the people and populations we serve.
