David Livingstone Smith, Ph.D., professor of philosophy, has given talks on philosophy, politics and Trump at University of California, Riverside and the University of Pennsylvania.
Smith spoke about 鈥淭he politics of salvation: ideology, propaganda, and race in Trump's America" before leading a panel discussion at the University of California, Riverside. In the first part of his talk, Smith discussed Trump鈥檚 rhetoric, arguing that Trump鈥檚 speeches follow the same pattern of Money-Kryle鈥檚 Psychology of Propaganda. In the second half of his talk, Smith spoke about Trumpism, ideology and philosophy.
At the University of Pennsylvania, Smith addressed 鈥淭he Politics of Salvation鈥 as part of the university鈥檚 conference on 鈥淭rump, Philosophy, and American Politics: Philosophical Implications of the 45th Presidency.鈥 This event brought together scholars to discuss issues raised by the election, the transition from the Obama Administration to the Trump Administration and the early days of the Trump presidency.
