Ali Ahmida interviewed on Chicago public radio about U.S. airstrikes against ISIS in Libya
On August 3, 2016, Ali Ahmida, Ph.D., professor in the Department of Political Science, was a guest on 鈥淲orld View,鈥 a program of the Chicago public radio station WBEZ.
Ahmida discussed the United States鈥 recent expansion of airstrikes against ISIS into the country of Libya. He explained his view that the Obama administration must find a delicate balance between coming to Libya鈥檚 aid and showing deference to the Libyan Government of National Accord, which has been trying to fight ISIS in various parts of the country.
鈥淭his has to be done with a lot of鈥 care, a lot of sophistication, a knowledge of Libyan society, which is very complex and鈥 has a tradition of anti-foreign intervention,鈥 he stated.
