David Beseda, M.S.W., adjunct faculty member in the Department of Society, Culture and Languages, was mentioned in a September 30, 2015 article in 鈥淢arketplace,鈥 the online site of the 鈥淢arketplace鈥 radio program featured on National Public Radio (NPR).

The article, 鈥淏ehind New York鈥檚 Right to Shelter policy,鈥 mentions Beseda鈥檚 role in the 1979 law suit brought against the governor of New York for failing to provide 鈥渃are and support of the needy鈥 in the form of shelter in New York City 鈥 a case that resulted in the Right to Shelter policy.

According to the article, Beseda provided testimony about the inhumane conditions of New York City shelters that was so powerful, it spurred New York City officials to negotiate a solution.
