Press Herald runs article on Art Gallery鈥檚 鈥楥oyote Connections鈥 exhibition

On October 9, 2014, the Portland Press Herald featured a two page article titled 鈥淐oyote as Muse,鈥 which discusses 鈥淐oyote Connections,鈥 the current exhibition at 新香港六合彩资料鈥檚 Portland Art Gallery.

The exhibition is co-curated by Art Gallery Director Anne Zill and biologist Geri Vistein.

According to the article, Zill was inspired to curate an exhibition that focused on the coyote as the result of years of hearing their howling from Evergreen Cemetery, which borders the gallery.  鈥淭hey鈥檝e been singing to me for years,鈥 Zill said.

The exhibition showcases various Maine artists鈥 works in an array of mediums.  The article notes that 鈥渋n this show, many artists explore the native connections [of the coyote].  Others portray the animal in relationship with the environment.  The paintings, sculpture and fabric work on view capture the coyote鈥檚 playful nature and its ability to feel pain and express joy.  Other work explores the tension that exists among the animals, urban dwellers and farmers.鈥

鈥淐oyote Connections鈥 will run from October 9, 2014 through January 15, 2015, with an opening reception to be held on the 9th, from 5-7 p.m. at the Art Gallery.  Several educational programs associated with the exhibition are scheduled as well.
