Norway paper reports on Anouar Majid鈥檚 presentation at Oslo鈥檚 House of Literature
On March 6, 2014, Utop, Norway鈥檚 first multicultural newspaper, published an article on the recent keynote address given by Anouar Majid, vice president for Global Affairs and director of the Center for Global Humanities, at Oslo, Norway鈥檚 House of Literature.
The article, written in Norwegian, describes Majid鈥檚 hour-long presentation in which he argued that ancient Greek democracy, which may have influenced the European Enlightenment, could also influence an enlightenment in the Muslim world.
Majid specifically mentioned the lack of a state religion in ancient Greece as something that could inspire a separation of church and state in Muslim countries in the coming years.
