Jennifer Tuttle presents at Society for the Study of American Women Writers Conference
Jennifer Tuttle, Ph.D., Dorothy M. Healy Professor of Literature and Health, Department of English, presented twice recently at the Society for the Study of American Women Writers (SSAWW) Conference in Denver, Colorado.
Delivering a paper on her own research, she spoke on 鈥淏elonging and Exclusion in Charlotte Perkins Gilman鈥檚 California Writing,鈥 as part of a panel of presentations on new work in Gilman studies. Tuttle鈥檚 paper presented new archival findings that challenge prevailing interpretations of Gilman as a New England writer, illuminating both Gilman鈥檚 relationship to the American West and the importance of the West to turn-of-the-century feminist philosophy.
Tuttle鈥檚 second presentation was offered as part of a panel about publishing in scholarly journals. Tuttle has recently been named Editor-in-Chief of Legacy: A Journal of American Women Writers, the official journal of the SSAWW. On this panel she provided guidelines and suggestions for those interested in publishing in Legacy as well as more general advice for those submitting their work to a scholarly journal.
